I have a 76 F250 and the wiper governor box is not working. I have pulled it apart multiple times, the first time it wasn't working the relay was welded to the top contact, so I fixed that and it worked perfectly time for a month and a half. Now it is doing the same exact thing again, but I pulled it apart and I looked over all of the contacts and tested continuity on everything and it was all looked fine. I put it all back together and it is still acting like it is just a standard system. If you turn it counterclockwise it all the way it will just go the same speed as it would in the standard low speed. I changed the switch and it also did nothing to it also. If you have any ideas on what it would be please tell me!

I've pulled the box apart and checked over all of the solder joints i cleaned up the relay and tested the continuity from between the wires from both sides of the relay so I think I am going to go to a junkyard and see if I can get one for cheap and make sure that its actually the box. I will post some pictures of it later today.
You do know there are 2 different w/s wiper switches. Twodifferenttypes of windshield wipers, twodifferentwiper switches. Two speed wiper switches have alow& high speed. Intermittent (delay) wipers were optional on 1973/79 F100/350's and 1978/79 Bronco's. Intermittent isnotanother name for low speed! DOOZ-17A553-A.. Yes I know there is a difference but when I turn it counterclockwise like it will go into intermittent it acts like it is just in low speed as if I turned it clockwise one way.

Got mine out of an 84 bronco, again, totally plug and play. I have read about some who have to swap some sort of wire at the connector, but can't remember what circumstance dictates that you have to do that.
I had one do the same thing as yours once. It would work sometimes until it finally would no longer go intermittent. The dealer wanted some insane amount of money for a replacement that I couldn't justify. Took the box apart and found a broken wire on a capacitor on the circuit board. Sweated the capacitor off and took it to the local Radio Shack and found one that was very close to the same capacity (although it looked different). Sweated it back on and it was still working when I sold the truck. Cost 98 cents. Give the circuit board a close inspection and re-sweat the connections would be my advise.
Mark.
Well I turned it on high for a few wipes and then turned it to the slowest intermittent and it started working again yesterday. I have been using it all day yesterday and today and it is still working. I think I will go get one off of another truck anyway though just as a backup.
Hello everyone! I, too have been having trouble with my wipers. Sometimes the intermittent and low speeds will not work. High will always work. So when my wipers stop, I switch it to Hi for a few seconds, then back to low or intermittent...might work, might not. I replaced switch with the correct version, using dielectric grease on the connector, grounded to steel under dash. It did not fix the problem. Where is this governor located and do you think it might be my problem, or could it be the wiper motor? Thanks.
In both of your cases, it could easily be the switch itself, rather than just the delay module. Both of the situations sound very much like the ones I experienced where the wiper switch needed replacing.
Not sure if hitting the junkyard for a good switch is any better than new at this point in time (they're all going to be 40 years old at least!) but we generally consider old factory stuff that's working to be superior to much of the junk we get today from the parts manufacturer's China connections.
But could still be worth a try. Mine worked perfect, but that was 25 years ago when you arguably had a better chance of getting a good new part the first time.
Good luck to both of you. Just don't overlook the switch, while checking the modules.
