The wipers on my '91 F250 will only work on high & will not park. I replaced the in dash switch.. Pulled the motor apart & tried the posted "Fix" that's on the forum. I pulled a motor out of my buddies Fox Mustang & swapped it & they still do the same thing. Anyone have any ideas?
It's only a $71.00 part new.. All the JY ones are as old or older than mine. Just not worth the hassle getting a used one & having it take a crap in the middle of winter..
Usually it's a cold solder joint on the circuit board inside the module you posted. The solder joint cracks at the large heat sink that has a diode mounted to it. Also I've seen a cold solder joint on one of the electrolytic caps.
If you follow the harness from the wiper switch it goes to the wiper delay/control module. It's held in place by a small bolt near the emergency brake release lever. Removing the driver side kick panel can help get better access to the bolt.
Yes, that's it! (and yes it just fits between the 3 position switch and the harness)
As F150xlt said the solder joints break. I have fixed them but never had a repair last long.
It's a PITA to get to on my truck so after fighting with it the first few times, I've just left the bracket off and wrapped it in foam rubber stuffed up under the dash.

That's a good idea NOT to reinstall it on the dash support bracket.
Probably only people who use the emergency brake have this problem.
I believe the solder joints crack because every time the emergency brake is released, the cable mechanism transmits a force/vibration which is transmitted to the control module circuit board,
I'd guess people with auto transmissions who don't use the emergency brake
don't have this problem.

Cool thinking! :)
Back in the 70's a friend had a '76 F350 cattle hauler and his emergency
brake lever hammered so hard on it's upper stop, so many times, when
released the lever went up higher than normal. :/
Right after I noticed that I started putting my foot on my '75 F150's
emergency pedal when I released it. :) It's such a habit I don't even think
about it and in those situations where I have -all my feet- on brakes and
clutches and gas pedals and then need to release the emergency brake
too, I have to think about not putting my foot on it. LOL :)
That habit has carried over to my '91 F150 XLT Lariat I inherited.
