OBDLink MX problem connecting

Connected to the scantool but unable to connect to vehicle. This is the message I am receiving from the OBD software, while trying to connect. I have torquepro also, but can't seem to connect.

check your cigarette lighter fuse. that is the power circuit the OBD port is on.

Unfamiliar with how tech savvy you are, I'll start at the basics to make sure they aren't overlooked.

If the key is off, nothing's going to happen - it's a security feature and a battery-saving feature. The key must be on, but you don't need to start the engine. Are there lights on the MX when you turn the key? Have you paired the MX with your tablet? Is your TP set to link with the MX?
