Key on engine off - does it exist?

Hello

04 diesel x
Just got a scantool sx it reads the ecu with the key in the run position but can't find the ecu in any other

Any thoughts on what might be causing it to not read when in the other positions?

Check the fuse for your lighter. Maybe the OBDII port isn't getting Key Off power.

The ECU is only powered in key on and in start. You won't be able to connect in accessory or key off.
