2005 F150 will not start

I was driving my truck down my driveway and it just shut off, it will not start, when I turn on the key the fuel pump will not run and when I try to start it the engine will not turn over. Neither the starter or fuel pump relay click. When I turn the key to the on position all the lights and radio still work. When the key is on the small red light on top of the dash begins to flash rapidly. My boss tried to hook his snap-on scanner to the obd2 port but it will not let him retrieve any of the codes and continously tells him to cycle the key through the on and off positions giving zero results. Does anybody have any thoughts on a possible problem?

Sounds like a security system problem to me. As far as the scanner the might be a blown fuse for the obd2 link.

The obd 2 has power, is it possble that the reader for the chip in the key is not functioning correctly?

if it is a theft thing maybe try your other set of keys, maybe the key failed. i have been told by people that they have thrown them and the did not work after that so its to easy not to try.

unhook the battery and let it set over night and hope it clears itself. its worth a shot. im guessing you went through the fuses under the hood correct?

Yes, I've checked every fuse in the truck and have disconnected the battery, I have never let the truck sit overnight with the battery disconnected, only 20-30 minutes.

i have the ford vol 2 workshop manual in my hand and found that issue in it but it is not easy to discribe without you seeing the diagrams of what circuits to test. i will read through it to look for key things to test but do you know anyone who may have this book? it would help alot

Nobody that I can think of, for some reason when you turn the key on there is a pump on the drivers side of the firewall near the top of the cowl, i believe it is for the evap system. It begins to pump rapidly and the red light on the top of the dash begins to flash rapidly in unison with the sound of the pump pulsing. I have no idea what would cause this.

first thing is the trans range sensor. it is easy to do with a multi meter check under the relay. when you look at the fuse/relay box the relays are closer to one end of the box so lets call that end the top.(thats how it shows it in the book) it would be the top left relay then the far right pin in that relay. go from it to ground and have someone try to crank, it should be over 10v.

What is the trans range sensor? is it like a neutral safety switch?
