My lights are litely pulsing with the engine is running-this was noticed in driving my truck in the dark after it had sat for a few weeks.
I had my ORIGINAL alternator rebuilt by a great, old fashioned, hometown auto electric shop about 4 years ago.
I believe the alternator has an internal regulator.
I know in my '65 Mustang when I installed a "reproduction" external regulator the lights pulsed wildly, whereas the lights in my truck pulse so litely it isn't super noticeable....
I'm going to run my truck to the shop and have them take a look......
Check your connections at the Battery and GROUND. Often the Alternators do not ground well if they've become corroded at the through Bolts. Just using a ratchet and moving it loose/tight may relieve that. Personally, I always run a Cable for the Alternator Case to the Negative Battery Post.
use a DVOM to monitor the Output while it's pulsing. If the Voltage is also fluctuating, the Voltage Regulator could be the issue. It may have a bad connection to the Rectifier Bridge.
