91 E350 E4OD Questions
Hello All,
First off, new to the site, and first Ford full size I have ever owned (so if this is a newb or repetitive question I do apologize), and I am looking for some insight from others on this site that may have experienced this issue before.
Just purchased a 1991 Ford E350 chassis Motorhome with the 7.5L/E4OD combo. Do not know a tremendous amount about the unit, but I am learning as quickly as I can. The vehicle has 56K miles on it and engine running is flawless.
Problem is that attempting to shift into any gear on the E4OD is non-functional, as in not even a bump when shifting into any gear.
I have verified there is fluid in the unit (with operating levels), and also verified that the linkage is intact and functioning.
Again I know nothing about the E4OD transmission, and I am searching the net daily to give me ideas/areas to investigate, to source this problem and find a solution.
So, any thoughts, areas of concern, areas to focus upon, etc would be very helpful.

The linkage may have become disconnected inside the transmission. You have to drop the pan to check this. If this is not the problem, drop the valve body. There are three bolts behind it that can loosen and bleed off pressure that should be applying the clutches. If this isn't the problem, the trans is finished.

Will open it up and take a look to see if any of those two are the issue.
On the three bolts your referring too.... can you by chance give me a better idea of exactly which three bolts they are, or are they the only three bolts I will find under the Valve Body?
Hoping that the trans isn't finished, but without knowing anything about the unit, I have to assume that it is a possibility.
