Front End Grinding Sound When Hubs Are Locked
Hi All
I have been having a grinding/vibration coming from my front end when the hubs are locked. I already found that my two front u joints were bad so i fixed them but the sound is still there. I also switched out my hubs to rule that out. I looked at my front drive shaft u joints and they seem to be okay. Im not sure where to look next.
Any help would be great!

Yeah the axles were out. I was able to reuse the old seals. I am now kicking myself for not talking a closer look at the bearings. The u joints were so bad I just assumed that was the problem. I also have not taken the front driveshaft out, but it does not seem to have any play in it.

Unlock your front hubs and put transfer case in 4X4 and see if the grinding sound is still there. If it is, then remove the front driveshaft and try again, if the noise is still there then the noise is coming from the T-case if not it's in the driveshaft. If the bearings where bad enough to grind I would be surprised that you missed it when replacing the u-joints. If the needle bearings where bad they would grind when the hubs where unlocked as when locked the shaft and needle bearings are turning together as 1 piece not using the bearing.
