have a 2017 super cab xl. only 5k miles, white exterior. New to the board so if this has been covered, sorry in advance.
Have noticed a spot on paint other day, tried to rub it off but wouldn’t come off. Examined closer and is a rust spot below the clear coat, or at least doesn’t come off. Upon closer inspection of truck body the entire truck is covered with tiny rust spots under the clear coat. Going to swing by dealer later this week and see what they have to say. Curious if anyone has had this and the outcome?
I bought a clay bar, well a clay bar towel, and it cleaned it right up. I did not notice it until a couple of days after I bought mine from a dealer a few hours away or I would have taken it back to them to clean up.
My last white F150 did the same thing, it is from the brakes. Changed the pads, clay barred the truck and never had another issue. Will probably be changing the brakes on this truck soon.
It can be also be metal from the plows cutting edge as it wears, my last truck was white and every year after plowing I would have to clay bar to remove the same thing.
Tbc420, do me a favor. Look at your window sticker and on the lower part where it says Method of Transport, tell me what is says there.
Rail or Convoy?
If your truck is white, you're going to have to get use to getting the clay bar treatment done at least once a year. At least that's how often I had to get it done on my last ride. Sometimes I'd do it twice a year just to keep it looking new but man it looks nice once all the spots are gone and you have a nice coat of wax on it.
