I have a 2018 lariat F350. I have purchased a ford OEM third key to have a spare. The keys for this truck are 4 button Flip with remote start. The owners manual instructions (page 76-77) do not work for me. Close the doors, insert 1 original key, turn on for 3 to 10 sec. turn off, within 3 to 10 seconds insert second original key, turn on for 3 to 10 seconds, turn off, within 3 to 10 seconds insert new key and turn on for 6 seconds. The new key will be programmed. All I get is no key found. Any and all suggestions are welcome.
Thanks in advance.
Before you get the "no key found" do you get a message after the second key that its ready to program?
I had a problem the first time I tried this but realized there are two stops before the keys are in the right position. I missed this on one in my first attempt.
The only message I got was no key found. Nothing about being ready to program.
I have turned all three keys on so the seat belt chime sounds.
Thanks, keep thinking.
I just did this myself and it worked without issue. Are you turning the key on to second "notch", just before starting the truck? IIRC, you have the procedure correct. My key said it was programmed right away. Might be a dealer visit...
I've done it many times. 1st key turn to run, for about 5 seconds, off, remove key. 2nd key turn to run, for about 5 seconds, off, remove key. Insert 3rd un-programmed,turn to run, for about 5 seconds, turn off, turn to start. Truck should start. Worked for my third key for the 2017

I just programmed a fob for my 2017 - and I couldn't get it to work until I ignored the "wait 5 seconds" instruction and just went through it fairly quickly. Bingo. All set.
I've not seriously pursued a solution so far with my key issue. I AM watching all of your responses and comparing them to my symptoms. My key is a copy made and programmed for me by a locksmith. I'm thinking my issue has more to do with this particular key's communication to the vehicle security system. The wife's key, it turns out has given her no problems. Both keys were created by the same locksmith simultaneously.
at some point I may run back by the locksmith and have them possibly reprogram my key.
It isn't a major concern since I always have a known working backup key readily available for emergency use.
Thanks for your comments thus far.
