Transmission Stragety

Does anybody know what the transmission stragety is on the 2017 6.7 trucks; specifically torque converter lock up?
  • What gear does the TC lock up at normal acceleration?
  • What gear does the TC lockup at WOT?
  • Is the TC lock up different when the "tow/haul" mode is activated?
  • Is there a difference in lock up when running the transmission in "manual" or if locking out 5th or 6th gear?

The torque converter won't lock up until 3rd gear in normal acceleration. Manual mode will lock it in 2nd. I haven't had a stock programmed truck in a long time to answer any of the other questions. Can't really remember. Lockup won't be affected when you lock out the higher gears (5 or 6).

My 2015 seems to lock and unlock while remaining in 5th gear in auto. I see an RPM change, without a gear change.

Can't say whether the 17 does, it's too lightly loaded to notice.

Thanks guys. This helps for when I'm towing.

My 2008 was tuned and I had a monitor so it was easy to see when the TC locked up or if it was slipping when under a load.

If you have ForScan, it has the ability to monitor it for you.
