I have read with interest the TC (Torque Converter) Lock threads and I can see some very usefull situations for it.
My question is has enyone done the opsite ie. not allowed the TC to lock, so that up to 4th gear without being locked?
My vehicle spends a lot of time going from 4th lock to 3rd unlock then back to 3rd lock, this has got to be hard on the TC clutch.
Would simply stoping the computer from earthing the Lockup work or is it going to cause problems with the computer?
By the way my vehicle is a 2002 Australian delivery F250 Twin cab 4WD and spends a lot of it's time in the Australian bush.
You want the converter locked, this puts more power to the ground and really helps keep the tranny temps down. Sounds like 3rd gear locked would be best for your applacation. Having the converter un-locked is bad.... I have a switch to manually lock mine and I have it locked above 5mph, don't unlock it untill I come to a stop.
