Have a 2017 Expedition and we are trying to get the heated seats to turn on with remote start. I went into the Advanced Settings and checked auto in remote start/seats. Am I missing something. Thanks.

 

Factory RS or an aftermarket one?

 

Factory. It's a XLT with good package that has power seats and remote start plus more. Think its the 202 package.

 

I don't think you can activate the heated seats with a factory RS system. If you can I've never seen it happen. I have seen it done with an aftermarket RS system.

 

Look in the owners manual...there should be a setting for seats, automatic, in the remote start menu. The seats will not get as hot without weight in the seats because heat does not transfer as well.

Will the indicator lights for the heated seats be on? Ours are not on. Thanks.

 

I would assume the indicator lights would be on so you could turn them off when getting in the car..

Just shopping Expys but the hot seats and steering wheel come on in my loaded Grand Caravan when remotely started in the cold, lights definitely on. And feature is very well liked right now in Detroit...

Maybe ask your dealer?

We have a 2015 with the 202 package and it depends on the outside air temp. Montana in the winter it always kicks on when we remote start and it kicks the heat on high as well. I've never noticed any exact temp where it doesn't kick on. Good luck.

 

Oh wow! Good luck with that. I hope you get that figured out. My RS does not have that option but it would be amazing if it did. As nice as it is to have the cab heated when I climb in, it would be that much nicer if the seats were preheated as well! I didn't even know this feature was available. Thanks for making me want for yet another creature comfort - lol.

Our ‘16 Navigator heats the seats on cold days when you RS it.

Indicator light doesn’t come on, so once I get in, sit on toasty seat, and hit start button, next thing I do is hit seat buttons.

I think it’s based on a temperature sensor but I’m not sure. It certainly doesn’t preheat them in the summer!

 

According to the manual, it goes to the last climate control settings. So if you do not have the seats on when you shut down, they will not come on with RS- at least that is the way mine works with seat heat. So before I get out of the car at night, I make sure everything is at full blast with defrosters, fan, rear defrost, and seat controls. Then shut down. Next morning RS car and everything is nice a toasty including seats. When set to auto, the seats would not come on for me with RS.

 

Mine is a '16 Platinum and it does heat the seats up IF the outside temp is low enough. No indicator lights are on while in remote start mode. Heater is running on high as well. Get in and push START and the car reverts to normal operation. Climate control goes to whatever you had it set at last. Seats are off unless you hit the button. But as YoGeorge says above, they don't seem to get as hot in remote mode as they do when you are sitting on them.

 

Whether seats come on depends on information display settings as follows:

Automatic Settings
In hot weather, the system is set to 72°F
(22°C). The cooled seats are set to high
(if available, and selected to AUTO in the
information display).

In moderate weather, the system either
heats or cools (based on previous
settings). The rear defroster, heated
mirrors and heated seats do not
automatically turn on.

In cold weather, the system is set to 72°F
