Is the fuse for the OBD port blown, I think it is fuse 30 under the dash?
I checked all of the fuses with a miltimeter, they all beep. The SES light is on for low glow plug voltage, maybe it is something messed up going to the PCM? I know it is not the PCM itself, last time I was trying to diagnos the SES I changed the PCM and it was still on.
I haven't read everything but...does your OBD adapter get power from your connection? The connector shares a fuse with your cigarette lighter and it's an easy check to check that lighter port.
I did not know the 2004 was different, but it did work another 1999 7.3.
The cigarette lighter and power point both work. Pin 16 in the OBD port has power, and my normal code reader works to read the codes for the glow plugs.

Another tidbit of "secret" info (meaning it isn't in bright neon lights when it really should be)...
When switching connection types (ie OBDII, PWM1850, other) in AutoEnginuity, you must first change the connection type, then CLOSE AND RESTART the program before it will work properly with that setting!
According to AE, the program only loads those portions of the software when it FIRST LOADS- meaning it loads whatever communications type/associated settings and criteria for the type of communications connection that was in the settings when you open the program.
It does NOT reload these settings while the program is running. So no switching between types of vehicles that use different comms until you restart the software.
Yeah, confirmed and WTF'd to their tech and support team some time ago. AE doesn't care, they do what THEY want without any regard to features customers want or use. (ie saving session configurations)
It turns out the spare CPS I had, was bad. I got a new one from ford, and it has been fine for the last week. So, the one that was in it went bad, then I swapped it with a bad one! The spare came out of a running truck, so I assumed it to be working. Thanks for all of the help guys!
I still cant get the adapter to connect though, any more ideas?
