Check the voltage on that switch. Someone said it's only 5v, if you plug one of those 12v LED strips into 5v the output is going to be pretty disappointing. A lot of work for some mood lighting lol.
That's correct any extra draw on that switch and the light won't turn on
I don't think they won't turn on, LEDs can work in huge voltage ranges. But the light output would be hilariously bad.
I'm by no means an electrician but I would guess it has something to do with a relay because they do light of for a second and then it's like something trips and needs to reset

Ahhh, so the switch itself can't handle it. Makes sense.
I would just run a lead to the battery, and if you want that switch to turn them off too, use a relay there.
On my RIP 2012 F-150, I had 4, LED license plate lights mounted to the bottom on my fiberglass tonneau cover. Had a rocker switch and a Lithium 9V battery in a battery clip, tucked up under the bed rail. In 5 years, I changed that battery twice.
Sometimes simple is better.
This sounds interesting. I'm more interested in function than form. Would you mind sharing what LED lights you got?
Anyone actually hook the bed lights they added to the Led center high mount light switch on the dash? Had that idea this morning leaving for work and turned on the light using the existing switch......
