My engine often produces a ticking noise that doesn't sound right to me. I notice it at idle speed while in drive through and sometimes when accelerating. This is my first new vehicle. I was thinking it would quiet down after the break-in period, but it hasn't improved. My dad has the same truck and his does not sound like mine. It has been cold here in Ohio lately, but that shouldn't make an engine tick. I checked my oil level and it is fine. I currently have 2100 miles on the clock. My dad's truck has 3700 miles on it.
I had a 2011 F150 Platinum with the 6.2...I know exactly what you are describing. Completely normal (and annoying). The dealer explained and even stopped it for me once, can't remember what it was...vacuum system or some such. That was a great motor.
