It’s for the two piece bed divider system. My wife’s 2016 F150 has one and when it is swung to the outward position it uses that hole to lock into place. I didn’t know that it was available for the Superduty though.
I had the bed extender on my '2011, and that hole was for the pin to keep the two pieces together in the middle. VA-D (and probably snowman) nailed it.
Just seems like a bad place for dirt and water to get into when cleaning out the bed. Wanting to do something with mine to plug it up before the LineX, LineX guy just said hed put a LineX vinyl sticker over before he sprays the bed. Not sure if he was joking or not. Seems like it would need more than that. On the other hand dont really want a plug that is going to catch on something everytime something gets push in or out of the bed.
