I need to finish the metal on the outside of the stake pocket but I want to figure out the mounting first
I am putting my bed together and I had to do some repairs on the rear stake pockets. The new cross sill has a nut welded on the lower hole where I believe the bottom bolt for the tailgate goes. The top hole was cut off. On the back of the stake pockets there are two holes. I assume they are for the tail lights. It looks like the taillight holes are about 1/2 lower than the tailgate hinges.
I think I ok the tailgate is at the right height, don't want to drop it 1/2 inch to match the taillight holes. What is the relation between the tailgate ears and the hole for the tailgate chain bolt in the stake pocket.
Does the top of the tailgate hinge share a bolt with the bottom of the taillight bracket
the middle bolt goes thru the top of the tail gate hinge and the bottom of the tail light bracket on my truck. Just like the pic in the Mid Fifty catalog.

That doesn't work on a '52 box as the license plate bracket hits the box if you use the upper hole. . . At least on the left side.
