For the uninitiated, you want to separate intake whistle from exhaust whistle - two completely different sounds. The whistle out the pipe is easy to accomplish with a bigger exhaust - I went 4" from the turbo back. I've used a resonator to eliminate the drone that comes with a bigger exhaust, but it killed the whistle. I'm still experimenting with reducing drone and exhaust brake hiss, while keeping the whistle.

Whistle under the hood is even easier... and cheaper. A 6637 air intake will give you plenty of whistle up there, and removing the insulation off the tube from the turbo to the intercooler will add some noise up there too. Be warned, though... not everybody likes the whistle up front - I can't stand it. I've never heard anybody complain about whistle out the back, though.

It doesn’t have any whistle inside the truck but I don’t think I’d mind it. I have a 4” down from the turb to a 5”-6” tip. I have the s&b intake in a box.

Put a 38R turbo on it and it will provide all the whistle you could ask for.

Other than that, the advice Tugly provided is all I would offer as well.

If you add all of the following you will hear the whistle loud and clear as well as neighbouring fellow drivers.
6637, driver side IC pipe foil delete, straight pipe, if you still uave the stick turbo compressor wheel add a 5/5 wheel either billet or cast your choice, a tuner with custom tunes.

Would the 6637 be louder than my curt set up? What are the ic pipes and any suggestions on turbo wheels? Also how hard is it to change the wheel?!

Does yours have the clear cover on? Are your up pipes leaking? If so thts the source of the low noise whistle. I(ntercooler Pipes) and the driver side is the one with the nasty looking aluminum insulator, thats if yours still has it. As for changing the Turbo wheel you can do it with out removing the turbo just remove the front compressor cover, and pull the down pipe away so you can fit the 18mm socket IIRC and with a ratchet i dontbremember the exct size you loosen the compressor wheel counter clock wise, put the new one torque to spec and your done.

I would not pull out that S&B for anything. It's a great breather and it keeps the turbo noise under the hood to a tolerable level. I say that with a 38R, though.

The foil on the tube is there to prevent turbo "whine" (what I call the noise under the hood). Removing the foil will allow the tube to resonate with the turbo whine (think tuning fork). I liken it to taking a smartphone away from an adolescent girl and riding in the cab with her for hours... but some people are into that sort of thing.

I bought the 38R for two reasons... it is a good breather with excellent spin-up, and it's a notoriously loud whistler. The 38R bearing cannot be serviced, though... so I'm screwed if it fails.

Up-pipe leaks are like kids stomping in the mud, they leave a dark footprint that's hard to miss. Just look for soot near an engine exhaust component... it doesn't belong there. The OBDII tools link in my signature can be helpful too.

It doesn't take much for Uppipe leaks to rob your boost. Here are some pics of mine a few years ago.

An hear a little difference but not much at all don’t even know why ford put it on there cause it doesn’t seem like it had much whistle it had to control... checked don’t see any obvious pipe leaks.. my turbo wheel looks stick just straight fins nothing special looking
