im switching my 76 f350 flatbed with a 390, back to gas from propane. It has the stock manifold, and it had a 4 barrel carb on it originally. My dad switched it to propane years ago and I’m tired of dealing with propane. What is the simplest 4 barrel gas carb kit to bolt back on? I think it originally came with a stock holly 4 barrel. I have all the other gas system parts needed....I think. Thank you.
Another stock Holley 4bbl 600 or 650 CFM. Are you going to try and sale the propane kit to a guy with a rock crawler and a carb with running issues? Craigslist time.
Well before you pitch it in the trash can, let me know PM wise. I might be interested in it for the right price. I am right next door in Missouri, so howdy neighbor.
I might if we can work it out. You really might want to try and flip sale the kit and tanks to a rock crawler guy. That conversion is a common thing to do.
How deep into Oklahoma are you? I am 3:15 hr from Tulsa....
Yea I do not get that way very often, Down Stream Casino on the west side of Joplin is as far as I go west these days. lol
But...I might be in Tulsa to see George Straight June 1. I am sure you do not want it under foot till then? I really think that you can flip it on the Craigslist.
i wish i still had a use for the propane conversion.. i like them myself keeps the internals of the engine so clean, no more needle-seat or flooding problems at any angle, and long term storage is never a issue like with so much of todays 'corn syrup' gasoline
Anyone ever see ex. valve recession into the heads using propane vs gas? I've heard or read about that but I dunno how true that is.
Propane is a "dry" fuel. Gas is wet and provides some lubrication to the valves. Propane in an engine set up for reular gas does tend to cause valve issues. Dedicated propane engines are modified to help deal with this.
You will have to swap out the distributor or have it recurved. As the ignition curve for Propane is different and usually recurved when converted to propane.
