DEF
3 Things will trigger a regen:
1.) DPF % of 100
2.) Soot gpl of 8.38 +/-
3.) 500 miles since last regen
Summer:
Usually reaches 100% before soot gpl or 500 miles which triggers regen. So pretty much when it hit 100 my truck would regen like clockwork, gpl was around 6 and mileage was in the 400's all summer non towing. (Was around 275 before I switched to Delo oil)
Winter:
Usually reaches 500 miles before the DPF% or soot gpl which triggers regen. I have yet to see it anywhere close to 100% DPF or the soot gpl above 5 before it hits the 500 mile mark. My last 5 regens have all been spot on 500 miles.
Towing:
Usually reaches soot gpl before 500 miles or DPF 100% which triggers regen. The DPF% will continue to drop from heat as your soot gpl raises. It will be a race between your soot gpl and the mileage to see which one triggers the regen.
I have also found the factory DPF % screen to be vague at best compared to my monitor. It jumps in 5% increments and will stall then up then down. It never agrees with my monitor. I have completely stopped looking at it. It also is not the true measure of when your truck will regen, I think some people are beleiving they can go have the screen enabled and they will never miss a regen and that couldn't be farther from the truth, there are other parameters the truck may use to trigger the regen.
As to DEF usage, I just put a jug in every 2500 miles or so, it is really an after thought to me, Ive never really kept track of how much it uses.
This has been my experience on my truck but it seems to be about what Ive been reading others are seeing as well. Take it for what its worth...
P.S., Sorry to the op if you feel I got off track here.
I don't use Forscan so I don't know, I use the Edge monitor.
