On my 2015 6.2L, under the left 12v outlet (below the 4x4 ****) is a small square recessed “cubby pocket”. This is on the drivers side of the center console. It popped out and there is a 2 wire plug that dead heads into a small plastic receptacle on the back of this pocket. Does anyone know what this plug is for and what would go where this pocket is? I’ve looked thru the owners manual/online and I cannot find info about it.
On regular cab and extended cabs that's the switch to deactivate the passenger side air bag if you have a baby car seat or booster seat in that spot. On a Crew Cab they just assume that you're gonna put your kid in the back seat, so they don't give you the option of turning off the airbag. They still run the harness there, but don't populate the switch.
IMO, the "Cubby" is useless. Any thing I put in there - gum, Tic Tacs, paper clips always ends up on the floor.
Nah...what I’m doing is...I bought a dual USB extender that I’m installing in that cubby and running the wires up and into the top dash compartment, plugging the extender wires there in the USB ports, so now I don’t have wires coming out and down the front of the dash to plug into phones/iPad/etc. Pretty much the way Ford should’ve designed it, IMHO.
If you want to install the air bag switch, it is part number BC3Z 14B268 A.
My truck is an 2009 so I wonder if it’s the same. So everything is in place for the switch to work? So all I have to do is get the switch and install it? I have a crew cab and sometimes it would be nice to turn the front airbag off.

This above switch is for 2011-2016 trucks. Your truck uses this switch 4G7Z 14b268 A.
As to the wiring being there, you would need to verify it by removing the center cover and looking but it probably is there.
