I have no experience with either of these. IMO, there best results of HID units are very dependent on the quality of the projectors. OEM projectors on the Acura are considered the best in the market, I am told. Personally, I'm sold on the quality of the Morimoto units. They are the best HID retrofits that I've seen so far. There are others here and on the EX forum that have gone this route and I am sure they will chime in. @Twitchyleprechaun and @agsmv1 have done this Morimoto retrofit in the recent past. I am sure they can provide some additional inputs. There is a lot of information about these here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMk...L0839coebIH18w

....and know you can not use HID for high beams as they are not instant on.
Technology on these have come a long way and you will not notice how quickly they come on.

Apologies to the OP for

and this I just found this thread on these same "Xtralights" lights in the tech section posted back in 2012, but no follow up on if they were ever purchased and used or not:

And another were Xtralights was brought up again:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post16611164

Seems people do not like the Xtralights, but has anyone actually used them?

Then there is a post back in 2010 by KhanTyranitar that suggests adding a relay harness to the stock lights for up to 30% improvement, and rebuttals by JohnnyAirtime. Wow, so much reading and so many direction possibilities. 6 to 8 years down the road from these posts, has technology advanced on the headlight area that we can use on our pre 05 EX lights?

I can tell you for a fact that adding a relay to the headlight circuit does help, at least it did in my situation.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-pictures.html

I had HID projectors on my Audi S4 and they were great. I have HID projectors on my Subaru Tribeca and they are great.

The relay and "good bulbs" on the 7.3 get the job done, but if/when we go full time RV'ing I will probably invest in a retro kit from Morimoto.

Minor hijack I hope, more current information and options for headlight upgrades from simple 99-04 light only upgrades to the full grill, bumper, header panel and light upgrade. My apologies to the OP as well if I have taken this too far off course.

I had something similar to those xtra lights you posted..complete junk. Output was terrible. I did the 05 upgrade, but I already had a Iron Cross bumper that fit just fine with some minor modifications. The previous header panel was chopped up and it sucked. Very little adjustability with the headlights. I did the morimoto HD retro fit. Pretty easy, learned a couple of things and very happy with the output. I think I am going to get another set and do another pair of headlights I have sitting in the garage...when I have time!! Some things I would change is how much I took off the back of the headlight housing, and better adjustment BEFORE I installed them back into the housing and on the truck. Overall for my first retro they came out pretty damn good!
