Hey guys I just had my trans rebuilt by a shop, i blew out all of the lines, changed the trans cooler, added OEM fluid, and changed my trans bypass filter.
The trans get hot on my ride home on cold days. Last night i was at 208 by time i got home which is about an hours ride from my job. Outside temp was about 45.
I have the 26 row cooler, diesel site bypass filter and stock pan. Before my trans failed on a day like that i would run 160 no problem and it would sit there with out budging.
if I cant figure it out my next step will be to drop it off at the shop who rebuilt and have them look at it. They didnt have the truck to install the trans back into since i pulled it and put it back, so they didnt have anything to test.
fluid is at the correct levels hot and cold. How about the bypass valve on the side of the trans? ive had that fail on me before but im guessing none of the trans lines wouold be hot if it was just bypassing within the trans
ok so i spoke with my trans shop and the guy advised me that the trans runs to the radiator than to the cooler than back to the trans. since there is no way to replace the cooler in the radiator does anyone know how to bypass the rad?
Just plumb your transmission directly to the cooler and remove the hoses that run to the radiator. So hot side into radiator goes to hot side of cooler, cool side of radiator that now goes to cooler now goes to other side of cooler.
