Has anyone tried one of these? I tow a lot and I’m seeing oil temps in the 245 or higher range consistently. I like that it gives you an additional 3 quarts - total of 4 gallons. And the finned body should help some too.
The added capacity would just take it a little longer to get to that temp. and longer to cool back down. No difference in the long haul except to your pocket book. However, if it gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling, go for it.
I would spend the money on external oil cooler between the engine and the oil filter instead of the pan. But as stated above, these are normal oil temps and quickly cool down when truck is on level roads not pulling hills even with a load. Also, agree with 69cj on just taking longer to heat up and cool down 4 gallons of oil but wills till have the same oil temps in the long run.
The 6.7 already has an oil cooling system, and given your observation of temperature is working correctly. Pan will not help anything other than look cool. oil change will cost more.
I seen these as well and did some research. Some of the early 6.7's have plastic oil pans so this may have been designed initially for the plastic panned 6.7L. If I had a plastic oil pan, I'd replace it.

The 2011's came with the composite pans. They later changed to steel pans for 2012 and newer. Dorman makes a steel replacement pan or one can go to Ford for the steel pan.
But as stated, believe the OP was talking about a machined aluminum pan.
