DEF system fault

Received def system fault, limited to 50 MPH after 50 miles on a 2012 f350 lariet 6.7. Also had a check engine light which turned out to be a #2 EGT sensor, changed the sensor however, still have the DEF system fault. Any suggestions?

EGT sensors are covered under an extended mileage warranty. You might be able to get a refund for the sensor.

What codes are stored in the PCM?

How cold is it where you are? I had that happen to me when my DEF heater took a dump when the truck sat outside on a below 0 degree night. . Check engine light came on shortly thereafter but not until later in the day but there was no check engine light when I got the warning on my dash.

DEF fluid freezes at 12 degrees F. - ish

Do you have access to FORScan and a USB / Wifi OBDII tool? When I had a DEF related check engine light on my '12 my normal code reader didn't show the problem, but FORScan did.

In my case I had to replace the heater, sending unit, and pump assembly in the DEF tank.

I do, no codes were showing up once I changed the GT sensor, my battery was going dead so I drove it approximately 10 miles and the damn default cleared. Did not think an EGT sensor would cause this issue however, it did.

2012? If you're over 100k miles give serious thought to just deleting all the DEF crap.
I'm just waiting to hit that # and its all going to come off.
Yes, there are pro's - performance / mpg / no more DEF fluid or regens or underbelly crap - and con's - emission testing / resale issues (just keep the DEF crap and put it back on if you're going to resale, if you actually have to).
Or deal with codes, repair, replacement....

LMAO, I actually live on the river which is the county line to a non-smog county... Would move if I could find something as nice on the other side but having a duck blind in the back yard is nice.
