I've searched the forums and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for; hoping for a little help.
Have a new to me 2003 F350 Crew Lariat V10; has 67k miles (paid 12k for it, got a pretty good deal). I noticed when I purchased it the headliner was a different color around the perimeter of the sunroof in the headliner (approx. 1 inch all the way around the sunroof. Well, it rained a bunch yesterday and I noticed the discoloration is damp...suspicion confirmed, it leaks (surprise I know). Well I checked the drain tubes and they seem to be draining just fine. If the drain tubes are clear, whats causing this leak? Would I need a new glass seal? Seems kind of odd to me if the tubes are draining properly....
Have to really look at it to figure out where the leak is.
I’d open it up, give all of the edges, gaskets, and weatherstripping a good inspection and cleaning, tighten any screws I see, oil any moving parts, and open and close all of the positions a bunch of times to make sure it’s seating properly.
Seal would be my bet. And Ford wants a premium for the slinky piece of rubber. If the seal looks good (no cracks, tears, etc.), then I would be looking at a alignment issue with the glass...You could also try super-saturating the seal with pure silicone (not the sealant-the liquid) which may rejuvenate the seal a little and make it more pliable...
Thanks for the replies; I'm going to see if replacing the seal helps. I looked it over and it appears to be in decent shape, but the way the moisture is around the entirety of the sunroof makes me wonder if it's a seal problem. This was an Idaho truck - and it being black, I'd imagine the roof got pretty fried over the last 14 years.
