I have water leaking into both front areas and making the carpet on the floor by the plastic jam wet. A couple weeks ago I noticed the rubber seal around the door top was out of it's "track". So I took a tiny screwdriver and popped it back in. I figured things were good, but there is still water getting in after a recent storm. I have noticed the vertical plastic wet also. It looks like it's dripping into the cab from the door, it doesn't look like it coming from the windshield area. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
This may sound like a silly question but does it have a sunroof? I spent a lot of money on a new windsheild because there was no evidence that the sunroof was leaking and it turned out the drain lines for the sunroof were clogged and the water ran to the floor inside the panel where it was impossible to detect.
I had the exact same problem with my truck, my problem was the sunroof drains were clogged and the water wasn't able to drain correctly. If you have a sun roof I would check the drain lines. The only other thing that I think would cause this is a leaking windshield or cowl.
When one of my sunroof drains plugged the backup caused an overhead drip onto the driver. Roll the roof back and the channel was full of water. Tried to unplug using weed cutter line. I couldn't get that to work and wound up fishing the drain tube out from behind the driver-side kick panel. As I recall there are 4 drains, one in each corner of the roof. I think the weed cutter line would have worked eventually. Perhaps flatenning the tip a bit and spinning the line with a slow drill would "rooter" the stoppage out.
But.... we still haven't gotten a response as to whether the vehic has a sunroof.
It does have a sunroof and it was wet today after some rain. I noticed drip spots on the passenger seat as well. Sorry for the slow response been a busy week.... I'm gonna go look around but where exactly are these drains? It's a 98 expy 5.4 EB edition.
There is one in each corner of the frame. I needed a flashlight to find them when in the garage (not enough light). They are not very big - smaller than a pencil. It should be pretty obvious when you look for them, as I recall they were the only things that looked like they might be drains. The 2 front ones are routed down the A pillar and pass behind some insulation behind the kick panel. Not sure where the rear ones are routed. Tried and tried to see the end of the drain from below but never could locate them. Wound up removing the kick panel and pulling the drain tube up. The driver's side front is the one that was stopped up for me and a little poking freed it up. Standing water in the trough surrounding the opening should give you which drains are plugged.
In an earlier post I mentioned using string-cutter line. I gave up on it but post-game analysis makes me think I could have made that work. Good luck and post your results.
Driver side was completely clogged and passenger was slow. I didn't find the rears. I used some steel wire and finally used the cleaning brush to my Camelbak to clean it out good. After I poured some moderately hot water down the tubes to help break up anything else. Now I'll have to wait and see next storm, thanks for the help guys.
