Ford OEM thermostat sticking

I replaced the OEM Ford thermostat 2 years ago because it was sticking. I put on 30k since replacing.

It's sticking again. Somedays the ECT will not go above 183 degrees. This morning it was running normal again at 192 degrees.

Time to replace. I will either replace with another Ford OEM or the Mishimoto high temperature thermostat.

I drive the 6.0 van.

Any thoughts on the Mishimoto high temperature thermostat? Amazon sells it for $50.

I would get an international thermostat instead of either the ford or the Mishimoto the replacement ford tstats don’t seem to last in the 6.0.

Either thermostat is fine I run both the Mishi and OEM but whatever you decide get a new housing.

I would stick with the IH T-stat.
I am not a fan of being used as a bata tester.

This one eas holding up wall until I squished the truck.

BUT That did not hurt the T-stat.

Thanks for all the information. I think I will go with the International brand. I expected more than 2 years out of this thermostat.

I have a 1991 Honda Accord with original t-stat. Almost everything is original in that car!.

I was getting about 1 winter out of the Motorcraft ones.
For some reason the cold cycle of winter is what killed mine.

The original t-stat was still in my 05 at 10 years when I got rid of it. Temps were always between 194 and 204 depending on load and time of year.

In over 14 years I’ve never had a Motorcraft T/S issue in the 6.0. In the Ranger I found them to be more reliable. In the LS I had a replacement from 4 years ago go bad after an overheat (not its fault) and it’s replacement is fine.

Not that I don’t think others have had issues, but it’s just not my experience.

Personally, I should have never replaced my factory thermostat, I just figured I would since it was easily accessable. I went through 2 Motorcraft thermostats before buying one from International. It's been 3 years on the IH thermostat no problems.

I'm with Sean on this one.

My Tstat is easy to remove and replace. I live in the Bay Area of California and the weather is usually mild. It's hard to get the van above 183. The money saved on fuel costs will pay for the $28 dollar thermostat.
