Hpop questions

My hpop went bad and I was looking at a profamce one cuz it's only 100 bucks more then the OE

"The Stage 1 Performance HPOP for 1999-2003 Powerstroke 7.3L with Anti-Drain Back will flow up to 2 gallons more per minuted over the "standard" OE specified pump. Our 17* Performance HPOP will allow enough flow to support up to 238/100 Injectors"

Will this strain my stock injectors and cuase premature wear?

All you need is a 17* Bosch and you will be fine.

Where are you seeing this stage 1 HPOP? Some advertisements are just worthless marketing hype and you get nothing more than the standard rebuilt junk that you would get from autozoo.

Other places offer quality, improved pumps.

To answer your question, an improved HPOP will not negatively affect your injectors or truck in any way. Any excess volume provided by an upgraded HPOP is just dumped back into the crank case through the IPR when the demand is not there.

Your truck already has a 17* pump on it. They are trying to sell you base on the flow of a 15* pump. Save your 100 bucks.

First... I'm curious how it was determined your HPOP is bad. These things don't fail anywhere near as often as they are diagnosed bad by some thrown code.

Second... when I replaced my HPOP (because I was told it was bad when it wasn't), I bought a T500 from Riffraff Diesel. The price is right and it is a true upgrade.

Not if its a 99, which I don't know because he hasn't said, but either way, a 17* should more than meet your needs.

This is a good thought, though I will say I have been one to experience an HPOP failure, rare as it is. That is why it took me a while to diagnose because I thought it was anything but the HPOP.

I also think that the T500 is getting harder to get ab hold of because Joey seems to have other things going on. There is a thread about it and makes the Adrenaline look like a better, but more expensive option.

I would seriously consider the HPOP offered by Corey at CNC Fabrication as well. That is the one at the top of my list right now.

This is what I am wanting to do in January. Did it run better, have more power, or both?

Good to hear...and the name is Byron I hear the 17* makes a big difference. My HPOP is original, so it'll be getting replaced in January with a Bosch 17* for sure. Thanks for the input!

I sent a pump to terminator US mail on the 16th and installed it on the truck on the 3oth.

This is good to hear. I have seen two so far that are not able to get one through Clay or Joey. I am hoping they were just mistaken. The T500 is a proven unit. I'll probably still go with a Bosch unit, but that's just personal preference. I have had 2 T500s on my OBS trucks and they were great.

In regards to the HPOP's available, is it safe to say that the Bosch 17* pump is the same as a "stage 1" or the T500, but newly rebuilt?

Also, those of use with L99-03 already have a 17* HPOP, but we would be paying for a remanned HPOP with the same capabilities from Terminator, Diesel Site and CNC?

I assume the only time the HPOP is different is when you step up to something like a stage 2 from CNC, which in turn increases the price.
