Had to leave my Beast in Airport parking, whilst on a quick trip to Greece, so if anyone can point out a problem part I might be able to get a replacement part here. Do a switcheroo at the airport and do a night drive to my next location - otherwise have to do a sleep over till day light and find a decent car electrician and fix it.
There was a problem in the 90's era with the light switch/connector.
I had a '94 that had this problem, the connector melted down from the resistance, had to splice in a new connector and replace the light switch.
Not too hard to pull the dash trim off to get to the light switch and check it out first, if the connector looks like it's 'deformed' you found the problem.
just to let people know, problem solved. Earth problem caused by previous owners' attempt at wiring a "harness" for tow hitch. Somehow a loose cable was pinched in rear door causing the problem - solved by making a direct earth connection from light to battery. Now to sort out the *******ised cables in the rear lamps and do a proper job on the towing harness cable.
