Head Light Switch Problem ... Maybe?
The funny thing is I can pull the head light switch **** out and after it hits the first click, I can slowly pull the **** out more and the dash lights and tail lights and marker lights will come on. But when I pull the **** fully out to turn the head lights on, the rest of the light go out except for the headlights.
Now I just recently replaced the head light switch thinking that would fix the problem, but it didn't.
So I would like to get this problem fixed asap... Got pulled over by the cops tonight on my way home
... but luckly got away with a warning when I showed them the problem with my truck... But on the bright side I did get a compliment on my dash lights from one of the cops.
So, any tips on how to fix this problem would be very helpful. Could it be possible that I got a bad "new" headlight switch from the part store?
More than likely, the connector on the switch isn't fitting well, or the spades inside the connector are worn. I have this problem with my 93 crewcab, if I hit a pothole the dashlights may go on, or off, at will. A good bang on the dash fixes it temporarily, until the next pothole.
When I took the connector off the headlight switch, I was able to see that one female spade was expanded more than the others... so I worked it out of the plastic shell, squeezed it slightly, and put it back in.
No more dash light flickering. Zero. None. Might not be what is wrong with yours...
anyways... Got the dash torn apart and got to the switch. Everything looks fine and it connects nice and snug. But I also noticed when I pull the **** out, I hear this clicking sound in the middle of the dash when I turn the headlights on. It sounds like it's coming from right above the selector for the heater. Any clue to what that is? Or could that be the problem?
