EGR went out back in July. Completed the EGR delete and decided to go ahead and do studs and head gaskets. When I pulled the head from the driver side I noticed a strange looking star Patten on pistons.
Is this normal? There is no indentions like valves tapping.
Did you have heads checked? One thing you may want to consider is to have the heads checked and make sure they arent cracked or warped. Too many folks have missed doing that only to find after they have done their delete that they have two go in a second time and there is nothing worse than having to spend money twice.
Any tips on getting the heads back in w/ cab on?Need to go back in delicately so as not to hurt the new head gasket. Gonna use the trick of dropping the driver side motor mount to get the passenger side head off today. Then off to machine shop to get them checked. Also what's the best way to clean the block surface?
Iremoving exhaust manifold and injectors tonight as well as rocker body so I can have a shop check the heads. Yeah I am thinking injector spray or possessed. Lol
No worries. I merged them together and deleted the superfluous posts.

That is one cool looking spray pattern.
The way to get the heads back in with the cab on and not dinging anything
would be to use the head lifting bracket.
