So this morning I go to start the truck. And bam no start just a 1/4 engagement. So I check the battery voltage all is good. But I the check on the post. So I decide to check on the clamp and it read hardly anything. Proceed to look at it good found the tab broke on the clamp. I was always wondering why my radio would reset the time and other items all the time. So I'm guessing every time I started it it drained the battery so much it flashed the computer. Some times id get a Check engine light for sensor but then would go away though id share this incase some ppl are getting clock going to 24hr time
i had the exact same issue. I was having weird electrical issues. stuff would reset, screens would be different. i was also getting a crank, no crank issue.
my daughter found that broken metal strip in my driveway. i had no idea what it was too. then i started looking at grounds, batteries, etc... and found that. I used a c-clamp until I could get another bracket strap.
the c-clamp fixed all the issues.
the problem is, that little clamp is not available by itself. in fact in order to replace it on our trucks, the parts diagram calls for replacing the whole wire. forget that.
i was able to find a replacement terminal and then just take the clamp from the terminal. let me see if i can find the part number
) and the tech doing the service ends up replacing both batteries due to them having leaks at the top - anyone else seen this with OEM batteries that are pretty new? This truck had about 8k on it IIRC. Maybe it sat on the lot for 9 months before it was sold - who knows.
Wonder if Ford got a bad batch? Anyway, just something to keep an eye on - figured I'd pass the word to the group. Hopefully a very low chance of this happening to anyone, but you never know. Chance favors the prepared, or some such thing like that...
The Vidio shows exactly what I have going on with the Battery acid. .... and dustin CRI has the Tie-Down corrosion that I have also. Truck needs a servicing soon.... Will bring it up to the dealer and see what happens. Seems to be a common problem?
I hate these type terminals. I just added a winch and these type terminals limit ways to connect. I’m thinking of just swapping out to a 4 post battery on that side.
