My battery has been showing signs of going south for a few weeks now. Today it sounded really bad so I headed over to Harbor Freight to get some throw away wire brushes to clean the terminals up with. I had the baking soda at the house, but when I walked out of Harbor Freight, it wouldn't crank, period. Minus the baking soda treatment, I did the best I could on the terminals in the parking lot. Still no crank. So then, I was off to find a battery after getting somebody to give me a jump.
It sort of restored my faith in my fellow man in that after I had my jumper cables hooked up, I had four people stop and ask if I needed a jump. I had already asked one man and he was going to get his car.
So anyway, at 3PM on a Saturday in Texarkana, TX or AR, there aren't too many choices to buy a new battery. The Interstate people yanked the franchise from the previous franchisee 'cause he was taking them for a ride, so I was left with Sam's and an Energizer made by Johnson Controls. No gel-cel for me. I can't justify the additional expense and won't even use them on my boat for cranking or trolling.
Anyone got the number for the Interstate franchise people? I can't be the only one that wants Interstate batteries exclusively in Bowie and Miller Counties. Might be a business opportunity there for the right person.
One thing I was happy to find out was that after removing the old battery and replacing with the new one, all my settings remained on the radio and drivers side seat position recall. I didn't have to reconnect the Blue Tooth or anything! The ONLY thing I had to reset was the clock! Not that it would have been a problem, but that was always a pain having to reset everything after switching out a battery on any of my previous vehicles.
You may want to look hard at those cables to make sure that coorsion has not migrated down under the insulation. Thats a good batteries slow death right there. Well good to hear you are back and running.

Yup! Been there. Done that! I've got to get back into the routine of looking under the hood. I've driven a company provided ride for a lot of years with a mandated maintenance schedule. I would have the vehicles into the shop once a month at a minimum for an oil change (yes, average about 1,000 miles a week) so thing were looked at, just not by me.
