Pretty stoked, super tight truck with only 76k clean carfax, local and all that. Gonna bite the bullet and get it studded, deleted and all that asap since i plan on keeping it for a long time. It absolutely drives and turns 10 times better than my 02.
it does have an after market air filter I may swap for stock, 4" exhaust w/cat delete and a BD exhaust brake. Otherwise pretty stock. They said it had the camper package with heavy fronts and maybe bigger alternator? Bought from a dealer so not much to go by except oasis, carfax and such.
Not sure what is going on with the cut wires and black box velcroed in onthe drivers side close to the fire wall?

Nice looking truck, but if you plan on keeping it a long time, why not run it until it actually needs those done? Plenty of 200K+ mile engines out there that haven't been unnecessarily hacked apart. Doing the work itself can cause a lot of unnecessary issues, especially when people start pulling on wiring connectors and messing with o-rings in the HPO system.
We've put up 220k stud free miles on two 2007 6.0s, and have never felt the need to tear open an otherwise fine engine.
My measely 2 cents worth. I have to agree with Bryan. I'm at 171,200 and not studded ('06 4x4 CC SRW). I read more about those who do what you are thinking and create more problems than anything else. Monitor the vitals, give it some time and see if it really needs studs. I don't disagree with going for a better alternator though. Very nice looking truck, you should be stoked. Congratulations.
Thanks for the input guys, gotta a lot of people in my ears right now and really value these boards.
I bought a scangauge from BPD pre-programmed for a 6.0 a while back when I started shopping knowing I could check a few #'s FMP's steady 48.0 and my deltas. Well where I bought my truck there is no interstates, but a couple of 50mph hwys I got up to 50-55 for 10 minutes checking my deltas, 9 was the highest I got. AFTER I did the deal when the rest of the normal truck stuff passed my inspection, I headed home (3 hrs away) and cruising 70 mph I hit 15 delta occasionally.
Now, the truck is running perfect, no puking or loss of coolant, hwys close to home doin 55 im hittin 10-14 deltas. I'm thinkin clogged oil cooler?
Anywho, just want a reliable truck without throwin a ton of money at it, don't need to check every fix box. So..
Maybe skip studs, do new OEM oil cooler, BPD EGR, STC fitting, coolant filter and Blue spring a good start? Stock tune is fine with me, love the performance. Everything is on the table right now. BTW, love the truck! Super clean, super tight, drive 3-4k miles a year, would like to keep it for a long time.
I would run a coolant pressure test prior to doing the cooler. That way, if you do need studs, you can at least do the work once. The rest of the work scope you planned seems pretty reasonable.

Yup, diagnostics are the way, and the things you listed out are all important/not money wasting items based on what you've posted so far. You're a smart grasshopper, keep hanging out around here
When you get home and settled in with it, you should start a new thread just for the coolant pressure diagnostic. It'll be a clean way to get all the various youtube videos and docs into one place for you, and it would be awesome to have single thread working thorough diagnosing a not-obviously-blown (and hopefully ultimately not blown) engine.
