Throttle pedal issues

Throttle pedal issues

My 2000 F-250 has been getting worse with the throttle being sensitive or having dead spots. Today it all of the sudden start jerking while down and up shifting and that ends with a service engine soon light and no throttle response.

I called the local dealer and they want $468.00 dollars and I see a few on Amazon for $268.00. Why is the one for the 2000 so expensive compared to other years? I wish I could just replace the sensors and I am open to input on doing so. I have looked at all the threads I can find and dont see much more than people replacing the whole thing but it is a lot of money. Thanks

You can, You don't need to buy the whole assembly. Just buy the sensor and replace it on the pedal assembly. I haven't done it on a Ford yet, but I did do it on my sons friends 2007 Avalanche Z71.

The problem with this is I have found the Dorman part to be junk. I keep reading reviews that are not that good. The second problem is the 2000 has a separate TPS and IVS sensor and I think my IVS is the real issue. The IVS can not be found unless it is installed on the complete assembly.

It seems the model years after mine are much cheaper but $240 is the cheapest I have found for the Ford unit. After tons of research it seems that for the 1999 and 2000 the complete unit is the only way to go if you need the IVS.

Well I installed my peddle assembly and it was then I noticed just how bad my old one was. Sometimes after I would start it up I would use the peddle to get RPM's to 1200 or so for a faster warm up. The RPM's would go up to 1400 and back down to 1100 with me still holding my foot in the same place.

With the new peddle I have no issues holding it at a certain RPM for whatever reason Also, no more getting a CES light and a dead throttle that you hope will work enough to get you home.
The part I got is a Ford OEM =Ford F81Z-9F836-AB - PEDAL. I still have the old one that does work some so if any of you electrical minded guys would like to have it and see if a IVS sensor can be made so future people can just replace it and the TPS

Like I said of you guys would like to see if you could make a IVS for the pedal to save people from buying the whole peddle I will send it to you free with just a few bucks to offset some shipping cost,,,,,Thanks........Scott

I just encountered the same issue, my 06 F350 lost throttle response this weekend. I noticed that when I stepped down on the pedal enough to accelerate to 25 mph the the engine revd up higher than normal which caught my attention. About half a mile later I then turned right on to a main street when I stepped on the throttle I got no engine response. I knew then I had a problem and coast to the side of the road. I also noticed the engine began to idle rough. I shut down the engine and waited about a few minutes. I turned it on and I was able to pull of the road. I shut it down again waited this time for about a minute and tried to power up. The engine turned over but quickly shut off on its own. Then I waited a few more minutes and it turned over just fine. Drove it home on city street with the windows down, no ac for about 10 miles. Got home and checked to see if there were any codes, found none. Everything seems normal but after reading up from different forums I'm guessing this was the start to a much bigger problem. I just replaced the fuel filters a month ago with motorcraft filters. I'll continue to drive it and share any new info when I find a fix. Rockauto has a TPS for about $58, I might look into that part as probable cause.

I have had zero issues after buying the complete pedal. I had read it is hart to just replace the sensor and buying the complete pedal is the way to go. Been working great for months

Well my scangaugeII does show a DTC code and it reads P0299, but no engine check light. I'll need to diagnose the problem before I replace any parts.

Well I think I nailed it!! It was the ICP sensor that caused the P0299 error. I followed Diesel tech Ron's (rest in peace) video's and BAM fixed it. I had to configure my scan gauge II to report ICP, IPR, EBP and VGT readings to figure what the turbo and ICP were doing. I bought my parts from www.dieseltruckpartsdirect.com and they shipped it next day! Now I'm ready to drive this beast all around town!!
