0-5mph in 0.jerky seconds - TPS?
Last week, I started having symptoms of what I presume is a bad TPS. Ease into the throttle and it would act erratic, like I was in and out of the pedal but I was holding 'er steady. Pick up speed and it's all back to normal. I started to fidget with the pedal assembly and noticed the metal tab does click like it is supposed to. I made sure it was clean. After messing with it, I was symptom-free until now. I'm reading varying advice of needing to replace just the TPS and needing to replace the whole pedal assembly. Anyone go through this with successful resolution?

You are correct. I have not yet seen anyone figure out how to "make" it serviceable, either, though I do believe that one or two members have opened up the sensor housing. I don't recall there really being a DIY solution, though. I have one or two of the TPS assemblies in my garage, but just have not made any time to dig into something which is just not a huge issue. For me, thus far, it's been two replacements, each about $80, and then three bolts, unplug/replug one connector, and about 15 minutes of my time. I kept the old TPS just to dig into it and see if I could figure out a solution, but haven't done it.
