can some1 direct me to info on the TPS for my 2000, 7.3SD. will not accelerate after stopping @ a lite until repeted stepping on accelerator pedal & then only on occasion. my TPS is my suspicion please help before I get run over.
Thanks
Jimboe22
I had the same symptoms about a month ago. My wife had my truck and called me saying the truck is running but nothing happens when hitting the accelerator.
Had her use the high idle tune on my dp to get to a parking lot where i arrived with a new pedal saaembly. Installed in in the parking lot and boom fixed !
I had bought the pedal assembly 3 years back thinking i had a dead spot in the pedal but turned out it was another issue. So i took the new one back out installed the old one and kept the new one on the shelf.
IIRC you can just buy the sensor and pull the pedal assy out and install a new one. Some have luck pulling the assy out and cleaning the sensor using electric cleaner.
Depending on the year some have a integrated IVS and TPS and some the TPS and IVS are separate.
Mine was separate so upon removal 2 plugs (TPS and IVS) and 3 10mm bolts and she comes right out.
thanks BBT for the reply; looks like I will b trying 2 repair & if that doesnt work then a replacement. I try 2 take pride n being a mechanic instead or a parts replacer, & the way I understand a TPS is only a potentiometer. will let u know thanks again jimboe22

The TPS is simply that a pot. And the IVS(Idle Validation Switch) is the switch simple N/O contacts that allow the pot to be interpreted when closed.
