I happened to catch the truck misbehaving on the dash cam. Thought others might be interested. For anyone with transfer case expertise, what exactly would you guess failed?
Mine failed, see my thread on t-case leak, they kept replacing the seal and it finally started throwing metal with the oil. And the seal would get destroyed in about 5 miles. I believe it was a bearing issue, and that it was spinning in the case, causing the tail shaft to wobble, destroying the seal. They never told me exactly what it was. They finally ended up replacing it.
im not sure how the electric shift tcases work. my only experience with them was about 6yrs ago when i was shopping for a small truck and test drove a ford ranger. the electric motor wasnt working correct so i returned the truck and bought a tacoma with manual shift tcase. luckily a tcase can be swapped out for a new unit in about a hour or less so the dealer shouldnt need to keep your truck very long

For all of the positives, it is one of the drawbacks of the motorized engagement. You have absolutely no control when something goes awry. All I could do was turn the **** and listen. The truck was truly stuck until it was pulled forward a little bit. It is was it is though. I love the convenience of the **** but there's a part of me that would like a lever, but that is a very small part of me, very small.

Your comment made me go out and look at the seals on the t-case. They look dry as a bone. No leakage.
Intersting, your tail shaft is different than mine, My drive shaft bolts on. Just like your front drive shaft.
That is interesting. Here's a full side view. The only way to remove the drive shaft is by disconnecting the U joint. I wonder what is different. Mine was built mid October last year.
