Thinking about changing the paint color...

As the title states, I'm seriously considering changing the paint color on my 99 f250. The color has never really been my favorite, but it was my dad's old truck. He could care less what color it was. However, I'm now making payments on it, and I would like to change the color. Best way to describe it is a greenish/blue metallic color with gray on the bottom. I've got a couple of color ideas in my head at the moment and they are: solid white, solid silver, or leave the gray at the bottom and paint the greenish/blue a dark red. Price is a fairly big factor for me, which leads me my main question. Do any of you guys know roughly how much a color change would cost? Only body work that it really needs is a decent sized dent on the driver's side bed. Another good question I have is do you guys think this is even worth it? I do plan on keeping the truck for a long time, but I'm just not sure I can justify new paint on a 1999 truck with almost 200k miles.

Here's an old pic of the truck. Still the same color though lol.

You could take it to Maaco and get a paint job for a couple hundred dollars. But you would get a $200 paint job. To do a complete color change and to do it right you would be looking at three or four maybe even $5,000. I'd leave it alone and drive it.

I'm odd and look at it this way...a color change to me means a complete tear down and I mean COMPLETE like bar bones and then paint new color just like factory....so motor pulled for firewall doors removed etc etc

You don't really want to pay for a new paint job unless you're willing to strip the truck down and do it right. I think if it were me and I didn't like the color, I might consider having it wrapped or buy the wrap and do it myself, or buy some shaker cans of plasti-dip and spray it over, My son does this to his little fart can cars and when he gets tired of the color, he removes it and does another color.

Be happy it has paint, the clear isn't mostly gone, and isn't a rust bucket. Spend the money where it counts to keep it that way: underneath.

For a complete color change, minus the engine bay; which would include door jambs and such would be well over $5k without jambs you're lookin at close to that to get a quality job done at a body shop. If you do t yourself and don't do the engine Bay, you could probably do it for around $1500ish in materials

That truck looks great like it is!! It's got character. It would be a total waste of money IMO to spend it on a paint job. Put the money in performance upgrades or better yet...... in the bank

Take these peoples advise. For a quality paint job, 5k would be a good price. If you got 5k to throw at it, put it towards the loan of a truck knocking on 20 years old.

Yeah I kinda figured a good, quality paint job, especially a color change, would be roughly 5k if not more. If I do anything, I'll undercoat the frame as a little bit of surface rust is starting to show on the after some wonderful, salt-filled Virginia winters. Adding some more power is also on my mind, but I'm forcing myself to wait until something breaks. I've learned to follow the saying "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Therefore, since the paint isn't broken, I won't "fix" it lol. Thanks for the all the input guys!

Supercab, long bed. Right side bed is damaged as well. I have a Ford bedside to replace it. Got quoted $1300 just for the bed side.
