Could someone post some screenshots of AA? I've used CarPlay and cannot imagine how you guys think this is an improvement over stock Sync/Nav. No clock / outside temp, no speed limits on maps, harder to use music, etc.
I don't know if anyone likes CarPlay over sync. It literally does nothing as well as sync other than more frequent map updates.

I'm all about Android Auto because I don't need to touch a button for any info I need. Its all behind voice prompts, even the initial Hey Google or OK Google instead of hitting a button is nice.
- OK Google, take me to Staples Center
- make a stop at Frank's house
- text frank, I'm on my way
- play greatful dead radio on spotify
- Who's favored to win tonight's Laker's game
- text frank, I'll bet ya $50 the laker's win tonight
- Whats the weather
- text wifey, better bring a jacket
You just cant do this stuff with Sync. I use the Google Calendar for everything in both work and personal life, when I hop in my car the maps are already set to wherever my calendar is set for me to be. So if I have a dentist appointment, my phone with vibrate and say you need to leave in 5 minutes to make it to the dentists on time. Hop in the truck and the Google Maps directions are already there on my dash ready to take me to the dentists. The integration is just amazing.
On top of that, I have my home automation stuff hooked up to Google Home, so I can hop in my truck, pull out of the driveway and say "OK Google, turn off the house" and my doors will lock, lights and ceiling fans will turn off, etc. Or when I get home and am pulling up in the drive way I just say "OK Google, unlock the front door" and the front door automagically is unlocked when I walk in.
Yea, CarPlay is complete crap on my wife's SUV. Its just a pain in the *** and doesnt do much. Switched her over to a new Pixel (Android) and she loves AA. You can do a little hack to display any app you want on the Sync screen. Even do screen mirroring so its essentially your phone on an 8" touchscreen. I'm going to try it out this weekend if I have time.
I haven't had the time yet, I know you can definitely do it with exposed modules. But that takes some tinkering and you have to have an unlocked bootloader and root access. I think it can be done without this. I'll make a post as soon as I have time to run through it all.
