Sync 3 Data Usage

Wonder if anyone has ran into this; I have a 2018 F150 XLT with Sync 3 system No problems so far like the Truck. What I have noticed is My Data Plan on My I-Phone has gone up in usage . I'm not running the Waze App which I know uses your phone Data. But it seems that the Apple Maps is using data; is not the Nav in Sync 3 stand alone system. I know updates for traffic info goes thru Links which is free for first 6 months after that it is subscription base. Seems like it's using My Phone when I put in a destination.

If you're using your phone for data and directions, you're not using Links. Your phone's data is separate from the data in the truck.

This is what I do when I want to use Apple Maps. After I type in my destination, I start the navigation and then I turn off Apple maps. The navigation will continue through AppleMaps but it does not eat into your data plan.
