I have to re-track this statement " MAX COOL does NOT stop Auto Start/Stop. This morning, Max cool was on, I came to a stop light and the motor shut off. It was only 92 outside temp. As I waited for the light to change, the AC blower had stopped running, a very eerie silence and before the light changed, the engine cranked over 3-4 times, it started but was like shuttering, it then smooth out (Note I still had my foot on the brake). The light changed and off I went.
It look like the feature is activated based on temp, not what you have set. I was really disturbed by the shaky restart. Didn't sound good. ????
With continuous braking at a stop your truck should only restart 2 times and then keep running. If it's start/stopping 3 or 4 times it needs to go to the shop for some warranty repair work.
If the engine restarted while you still had your foot on the brake it was probably because the system detected that it was getting too warm in the cab. That's ONE of the reasons it won't shut down.
I wouldn't worry about the shudder. It's normal. Remember the engine is restarting against a trans that's still locked into first gear by the electric pump in the trans. Not like starting up in park or neutral.
Yes thats what I thought it was, but thought it would wait until one releases the brake, I guess not - Thanks.

When I turn the auto start/stop function off, when I come to a stop it seems like the engine still wants to shut itself off. I feel a small, occasional shudder where the engine would normally stop, almost as if it wants to shut off but catches itself and doesn't.

Mine does it as well. Even more so in Sport mode. I believe its the torque converter unlocking.
Look at 1:43. Yes the 2018 f150 has a button to turn off start/stop. I could be mistaken but I think its a law that the button has to be there. That or just practically every manufacturer has it because every car that I've been in that has start/stop has a button to turn it off. Even then there are several ways to keep the engine from turning off.

Same here. In fact I'm pretty sure I've felt that even when I haven't manually disengaged it - like when the AC is running on high. I think the only time I haven't experienced it is on the first trip of the day, when the engine is still cold. It doesn't even seem to try then.

I have had the "studder" for quite a while now. I noticed it was worse when the AC was on. I finally took it to the dealership and at first they said since no codes were showing, there wasn't anything wrong. A tech that knows what he is doing did some tests and concluded that the purge valve was stuck open. They ordered the part, 2 weeks later I went in and had the valve replaced. The "studder" went away with the AC off, however, with the AC on it is doing it to this day. It acts as if it wants to stall, rpms go up and down and hover around 600. I took it back to the dealership and the same tech checked it out. He took 2 17s off of the lot (mine is a 16, 2.7 ecoboost) and tested them. They both had the same up and down idle with the AC on. They say it is apparently normal for the ecoboost. I figure I at least have it documented. In the end, I have accepted that this is just a quirk with these engines, but doesn't affect anything.
Does anyone know if the stock style starter is being used to restart the truck or if Ford is using the sequential coil system between the rear of the block and normal starter ring gear torque converter mount?
I changed the code using Forscan. It is disabled as of now. Unfortunately I have triggered something with the MyKey settings. If I didnt have a MyKey set it may not have been an issue. Im hoping that I can fix the issue using the other key this eve. I would hate to be limited to 80mph and radio at 1/4-Throttle.

The 3.5 EB uses a conventional starter motor, although I imagine it might be a heavy duty unit to stand up to the start / stop system.
I don't know if I'm ever going to get used to it stopping. Its like "why is the AC slowing down ?". Oh yes its "START/STOP" again. I'm going to make a sign to hang from the rear view mirror "TURN OFF START/STOP" or Really fix it.
