Start Stop

Call me old fashion but I'm not risking my life turning out in front of a loaded dump truck expecting this thing to fire correctly and get on going. Do we know if 2018 models allow for this gas saving feature to be turned off?

If your really concerned, practice a little patience and let the truck go on by.

Try digging around the FORScan info. I thought I saw a toggle in the list of stuff you can switch.

I don't know if it's an option on the 2018.

However, if it didn't fire up....you wouldn't be able to turn out in front of a dump truck...you'd just be sitting there.

You can turn on the motor by adjusting you or AC cooler a degree, letting off the brake pedal a bit, or by turning it off by the switch on the dash.

Also, try turning the wheels a little in the direction you wish to go. I've tried that and it works.

Just push the button. Why bother with all the little tricks. Or you can disable it with a tuner.

Are you sure this can be done on the '18's?

Through something like Forscan, you can set the wheel turned sense to true, and it will always think the wheel is turned; thus disabling start/stop.

Have you or anyone else seen the 2018 Forscan options? I would think that if Ford is using this start/stop tech to get their EPA numbers up, it would have to be a "feature" that CAN'T be defeated.

Not trying to argue, just wanting to know.

I've put 13k on mine since Nov 16 and it's never failed to go when I wanted to go. Even in a hurry. It takes some getting used to and it's annoying at times, but I hit the button on the dash and enjoy the a/c while I wait out the light.....or whatever.

Maybe your start/stop is broke. It shouldn't be keeping the AC from working while stopped.

The compressor doesn't run.... its driven by the engine.

He is likely hitting the Auto start/stop off button.

Auto start/stop doesn't stop the engine if the compressor needs to run.

So far it has been flawless in my truck.
The engine will stop even if the AC is on, but starts again as soon as more cool air is called for. For what its worth, my truck is a 17-801a truck, so no climate control.

If I want to disable it, I'd just push the button - but I see no reason to even with far fetched safety concerns....

What the truck thinks you need and what you want may not be the same.

It can start to get a little warm before it restarts.
