I just got my F150 and so far it hasnt been an issue. I dont believe that it could possible save any amount of fuel and IMO that would be negated by the cost of the extra wear on the starter. None the less it doesnt bother me.
My wife has a Subaru Hybird and it does the same thing. I will say that the Ford system is much smoother than the Ru. But, I dont think think the Ru uses a conventional starter. In that case I think that the Hybird motor starts the engine. I am not crawling under the Ru to confirm.
Apparently the system monitors air conditioner use (keeps an eye on cabin temperature) and battery state as well. I tried leaving it enabled in NYC rush hour stop and go traffic. It did its thing for about 3 or 4 minutes during which time it shut down and restarted at least 25 times. Then it simply gave up and quit functioning. I'm guessing that the battery was beginning to run down since I never really used the gas pedal - just coasted forward a couple of feet each start cycle.

I guess maybe this is not the same as your experience but it's only supposed to shut down 2 times per stop then run normally.
Go to you tube and search for "defeat auto start/stop f150" Without the quote marks.
Shows how to use a little jumper wire behind the switch. It is the same thing as pushing the switch.

As I stated in a previous post of this thread, I picked up my 2018 F150 yesterday afternoon. Outside temp was 103. Max cool was on all of the way home. I stopped at 14 traffic lights, the engine never shut off. Just an initial test report. I plan on monitoring it for awhile.

That should be normal. Max cool will disable start/stop.
Hey all you Phoenix area guys ---
Roll those windows down and Max Cool for a while - I'll be down there in about a month and am hoping for mid 80's!!!!
I think I read elsewhere that Max Cool defeated the start-stop. Also, you need to be stopped for longer than 5 seconds I think. That should take care of most traffic bottle necks where you lift the brake pedal every few seconds to roll forward..
