new BTS Transmission
#16
It was an expensive lesson to learn, so I paid forward for no one would make the same mistake.
Diesel
37's = 4.30
35's = 4.10
V10 same thing but folks usually go one step numerically higher (4.56 instead of 4.30) for some extra umph.
You were without yours for a month, I've been without my 6.0 Excursion for almost 6 months thanks to the laziest transmission shop in America.
Glad you have yours back and will be able to enjoy it soon!

Your not joking about expense. My quotes for both diff ran between 2200-3200. . I wish I had a shop or even a flat driveway to work on, sadly that won't happen for a few more years. Until I can find away to not work on the dirt or rain/ mud I'm stuck sending my vehicle to a mech.

Sorry to tell you, but that transmission won't bolt up to your truck
But the good news is I can help you out there. I am willing to swap you a perfectly used 202k stock 4R100 for your BTS, even up! You don't even have to add cash! LOL!
But seriously, looks good! What torque converter did you get?

Sorry!
With BTS I got: "He's a little tied up, but I'll have him call you back" (collects my info, Thanks me, then hangs up) 3 non-consecutive times.
With John, I just never got a call back so I forgot about him and moved on.
Sorry about the high jack, back on topic...

It's all good, it would've been nice to use an FTE vendor like BTS or John Wood, but neither are good at returning messages even after you leave several asking for their help and what you need to do to get started.

Sometimes you get what you pay for... The currency is not always in dollars, but in time away from the vehicle or time waiting to get the vehicle looked at.
When my wife and I asked SkySkiJason to take on our truck and identify the issue with the ZF6 he said that he might be able to squeeze it in between builds that he was doing. We told him "we were excited to get the truck back, but were not in a hurry. Please take your time and treat it as your own as we trust your judgement".
Jason lives about 2 hours from us in the mountains of north GA.
After about 2 months I had the truck back and it was better than ever. He did a fantastic job for us and we are forever grateful for his help. We gave him a generous tip when paying for parts and labor as he did a few extras for us that he did not have to do.
I would put money down that he is the best ZF6 mechanic in the SE, maybe east of the Mississippi.
Here is the thread that follows my ZF6 adventures.

The transmission is in. Even without the new gears (installing next week) it shifted solid but smooth. I did have a scare, the Mechanic that installed the transmission said it was seeping ATF fluid from the dipstick base. With the tail tail sign of ATF around there and on the back of the pan I panicked!!!! I quickly wrote an e-mail to BTS (evening pacific time zone) and got a followup e-mail ( 6am the following morning) told me to call as soon as I was able too. I called right back and quickly patched over to Brian. We talked for a few min and discovered it was most likely one of 2 possibilities. Either the upper dipstick tube had a small pin hole where the bracket is tack welded and seeped when filling or the Mechanic spilled some of the close to 5 gal of ATF when filling (the residual atf seeping over the lip of the case to the pan. I did a good cleanup this morning and drove the **** out of the truck all day. Knock on wood, not a single drop. He told me to keep an eye on it for a few days after it was cleaned, if i see ATF fluid after that he would somehow( I live 3000+ miles away) rectify the situation. So far Im happy with the transmission and customer service. 10+stars. Now I can't wait to get the new gears to really see the full potential of the transmission.
