My 2010 Expedition won't stop running. I turn off the key and remove it. The engine keeps running and all electrical still functions. If I remove the fuel pump relay, it will stop but all the electrical says on. Any suggestions?
Up Date. I started it this morning then I pulled off a wire harness on the steering column. It looks like a position sensor for the steering wheel. I hooked it back up and now it starts and stops like it should. Except now "Service Advanced Track" appears on the information screen.
Perform the sensor calibration: Start engine, turn steering wheel stop-to-stop a minimum of two times.
The steering wheel rotation sensor has nothing to do with the continued operation of the engine with the key OFF. Most likely, you coincidentally moved something else while messing with the sensor and now it's working (for the time being).
I drove it a mile or so and the Advance Track light went out. Now everything seems to be working normally. Problem is, I know I didn't actually fix anything and I fear the problem will return. It's pretty hard to fix it when it's not broken. I guess I'll hope it doesn't return.
