When I am driving unloaded the engine isn't working as hard and exhaust temperatures are lower. In this case the regen interval is 150-200ish miles. When I am towing EGT-4 is usually 700-900F and I usually run into the so called manditory 500 mile regen. '12 CCSB with diesel kleen.
My 16 goes about every other tank per regen (400 to 500 miles). And to 2nd what Skimuggs said, avoid the short trips. I think idle time may affect that too. I usually only warm my truck for 3 to 5 mins when cold and rarely just let it idle.
Ah, I so wish I could find someone to do this. So far 2 dealers that I have contacted have just stared at me blankly like I was asking them to mount wings to the headlights. One asked that I leave it with them for a few days, and they would figure it out, but also said come back in 3 weeks to do that.
I love some dealers (extreme sarcasm) I mentioned to one about the posting and I get the "oh you forums guys" response. Like I'm pulling it out of my ****...
I think I just need to poke around and find someplace not local to my area to have this done. So far too, my shops you deal with just the service advisor, and not actually with the techs, neither would let me connect directly.

You could poke around on forscan and have it done in your driveway in less than 15 minutes. And that's if it's your first time on forscan. Even threw in some time to take a few sips of beer in my estimation.
I went through the same aggravation. Drove me nuts! After contacting or visiting 6 dealerships, I finally found one that did it. Was actually recommended to me on this forum. Difference was, very small town dealership that allowed me to speak directly to the diesel tech. Took him 10 minutes.
I highly recommend getting it done somehow. I love having it activated.
To give credit where credit is due the info below is from Scraprat's post on 1/27/16 here on FTE.
I printed it off, gave it to the service tech and 10mins or so later it was on my ghost screen. BTW the tech had not heard of this either until I told him and give the printout.
Sorry for the copy and past job but I don't know how to do the link so it just shows what Scraprat posted.
Hope this helps.

I just purchased my truck and explained the ghost screen to the sales guy he said just send the instructions. When I picked up the truck the screen was there, no problem and I'm sure there where other trucks getting it now that they know how to do it.
This is what I sent,
This is how to get to the ghost screen for "Exhaust filter".
(1) IDS "talking" with truck via VCM
(2) Toolbox selected to get to the Module Programming
(3) Programmable Parameters for our trucks
(4) Select Personality Parameter to program
(5) Change "Forced Regeneration Request" to Enabled.
(6) Programming complete and VCM can be disconnected from truck
Thanks for the credit but I was just relaying what I learned from our FTE brothers. If I could remember who I learned it from I would pass the credit to them.
My 13 dually has been regenning at 500 miles +\- 15 from when I bought it at 50,000 till just this summer at 81,000. Now I'm getting 3-400 miles. Nothing has changed with my driving habits at all. Fuel from all the same stations as last years. Might be time for a delete before it starts causing problems.

Ghost Screen now appears
Sorry SkiSmuggs, I don't know how I missed your post of the exact same thing just a little up the page.
Change the "1" to a "9" and the "E" (basic screen or "6" on productivity) to an "F" (or a "7" on productivity) on the IPC as built screen. (save your factory as built config file first in case you need to reload it)

The forced regen doesn't work on all models, does it?
