I actually have had it go down when I did a tow trip that did a lot of passive regen after short trips. I remember a drop from 90% to 85% and a similar experience this weekend while testing Enerburn, I think. But it is not common.

I know this is an old thread. I purchased a 2018 6.7 6 months ago. I've been monitoring regens since February to give me an idea when my truck regens. After Edge released the update to my CTS2 a month or so go I was able to see the DPF%. Up until a couple regens ago, my 6.7 didn't regen until the DPF% hit 100%. The last two regens the DPF% was only around 66% and only a tad over 200 miles between them. I'm just curious if anyone else has seen this behavior?

There's a mandatory 500 mile regen that doesn't care what the dpf % is.

My CTS has DPF Load expressed in %, but it is different than the %DPF Full shown on the dash screen, so you need to be clear about what your are seeing as those two things don't often agree.

Yup, but it still usually doesn't agree with Ford's dash indicator. I've seen the dash say DPF Full, when the CTS DPF Load was only 15%, usually during towing trips.

Is there a way to show the DPF load amount on 2020 models? I looked in the book and in the Sync screens but don’t see anything. Just trying to learn about and maintain My truck...

Static vs. active regen

I am beginning to see more frequent active regens on the highway, even while pulling my 12,000 lb, fifth wheel for 1,800 mi. earlier this summer. Had been 4-500 mi/regen, now seeing more like 200-250 per.

Considering bringing my 2011 F-350 in to a shop for a static regen - but am unclear about the benefit. Is a forced regen more thorough than an active regen?

My diesel supplement says that the DPF should be cleaned at 125,000 mi. Has anyone done that? I'm at 130K now

Thx.

If you are fully completing active regenerations such as normal interstate speeds and towing, an OCR is very similar except you aren't using that fuel to go anywhere. A rarely needed manual regeneration can help when you are seeing short distances between active regenerations due to short drives, idling and cancelling active regenerations over a period of time.

Cleaning and ash removal is where the DPF is removed from the truck. No one in my area cleans DPFs on light duty diesel engines, just have to spend the $4,500+ and replace it sadly. It's treated as a consumable. My average at 90,000 miles was 160 miles per active regeneration. OCR just delayed the next active regeneration or two in my experience then it's back to the new normal.

Kper, so was that with all stop and go driving, or that was it that low with highway/hauling driving as well?? No wonder your truck lost weight if that's the case.

Look under radiator repair shops for DPF cleaning. That is where the process naturally falls. I know where I am, radiator shops do this work. You might have to call and ask them if it's not advertised.

Interesting. Do you know if one of those shops in your area installed that aftermarket kit to make the DPF filter removable on the Ford rocketship OR if they ever even did a Ford 6.7 before?

No. I have no affiliation with those shops and have no idea how many of what types they have done. I know only that DPF cleaning is a service they offer.
